These are my many, many, many pictures of Hikone castle. This page takes you through the first gate, up the dangerous stairs that were kind of freaky to climb (though not nearly as frightening as the stairs we later climbed inside the castle), under the bridge that leads through another gate and up some more stairs, and a rather nice vista from the bridge.

For reference, the dark haired girl is Dani-chan (Danielle), the tall blonde with sunglasses is Kiri-chan (Maren, not Marron as it turns out), and the girl with short curly brown hair is Jen.
