The Late Journalist, Musican, Entertainment and the

Dan Burley, my father was a man with a vision who at a early age began a music career in Chicago , and also developed a talent as a newspaper man, later leaving Chicago with his high School friends Lionel Hampton, Milton Hinton and other jazz greats to become the Managing Editor of the New York Age, then Amsterdam News in NYC, and a media man who help launched many black and white entertainers careers. He was on radio in the 1940's, took a USO Troop overseas during WWII fulled with stars which was hailed as number two to Bob Hope, and he cross all colors lines during a time when this country was in it's turning point. His friends were Benny Goodman, Walter Winchell, and he was connected to President Roosevelt's administration as someone they would come to within the black community. Dan, was also a music man who developed the theme of the Zoot Suit era whereby the material used by Cab Calloway was Dan Burley's Harlem Handbook of Jive which was the for-runner of today's "Rap". He music was indeed a style of his own and his ability to report and get press to individuals was unmatched by anyone of his time because we was able to work within both the Black and White media with little problem. Will he began in the past I am beginning again here with my program was measure to get the truth told also in providing entertainment. We offer new talent to get out into the media by using his style of promotion.
