She has huge, heavy breasts that hang rather limply over her wide stomach; her hips are vast, and her bottom equally large. Her legs are thick, and a mottled color from burst blood vessels and varicose veins. Dimples and ripples of fat can be seen on her arms and hands. She has a wide, friendly face, and a double chin; her dark brown eyes and ruddy cheeks are welcoming and kindly for the toddlers and children under her care. Her hair is brown and very curly, and tends to frizz; she disapproves of it, and therefore keeps it short. Despite of her weight, Dione is quite strong; as she is often carrying several babies and toddlers at a time, that explains it. Dione wears long, loose skirts that cover her legs completely, but are loose enough that if she needs to, she can outrun a naughty child. She wears very, very loose blouses that breathe easily in the southern heat, and she sweats like a pig in the summer time. She has a booming voice, but can sing sweet songs in a husky voice that soothe the infants she cares for. Persona Personality: Dione is a mothering type; she loves children and wants her own son to make a few grandbabies for her. She is a very kind woman, and her lap is inviting for a small child; her deep voice is soothing and friendly, and she has a soft spot for any small creature, including felines (of the domestic variety). She is also good with older children; she knows that after the age of six or seven, children start to want independance, especially weyrbrats. She can and will lay down the law with an errant youngster, and those under her care know better than to disobey her when she's in a temper, which isn't often. Dione is a fearsome woman when angered, though, especially if someone has been harming her charges. She'll sail in and dish out punishment fairly indiscriminately with anyone over the age of thirteen. Persona History: Dione had a very average childhood, brought up in the same creche she now runs. Her mother didn't have much time to raise her, though she was a good woman, and so Dione became yet another of the creche's charges. She was a bossy girl, and very responsible, always making sure that the littler children didn't get picked on, teaching them songs and playing with them. She loved the way they imitated her and adored her, and when she was sixteen, it was natural for her to start working in the creche. She had her only child when she was twenty, the product of a mating flight; even at that age she was already quite plump. She loved her son, but the healers told her that due to the breachbirth, she had best have no more children. She was unhappy at this announcement, but she raised Bolior to be a fine lad, and at fourteen he impressed, to her great delight. She is still fond of him, and knits him thick woolen socks - even if it's warm on the ground, between and high-altitude flying is cold! Dione rose in status in the creche quickly. The children adored her, and it became clear that she had a knack for childrearing, as well as a passion. On her thirty-fifth turn, she became creche mother, the rank she holds today. She is very happy in her work, and is generally well-liked and well-known in the lower caverns.
