First-Turn Weyrling A'zu
Green Shorth

Persona Information:

Name: A'zu
Age: 16 Turns
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Rank/Craft: First-Turn Weyrling

Mother: Anazla.
Father: Unknown Brownrider.
Siblings: None.
Foster Parents: None
Significant Other: None
Children: None

Persona Appearance:

A'zu, formerly Anizu, and still called Ani by friends, is a slim, good looking youth. He has reached his adult height of 5'10", and is quite pleased with it - his mother was tiny. He is not bulky, stocky, or muscular in build, but is hardly weak; though he isn't massive in size, his muscles show when he's using them and anyone who's done firestone drills with him knows the boy can throw with the best of them. A'zu has short-cropped hair of a copperish color, not quite brown or red or blonde but somewhere in between. When grown long, it is wavy, but short it is somewhat whispy and curls in humidity (all the time at Atora). His eyes are of a medium brown, and he has a wide, friendly smile. He's a pleasant-looking boy, but not outsanding.

Persona Personality:

A'zu is not the sort to stress out over the "minor details" in life. That is to say, before he became a Weyrling it was all his mother could do just to get him out of bed and doing his chores - apathetic laziness just seemed to be natural to him, and all agreed that his future as anything but drudge was unlikely. That, however, was until the little demon(otherwise known as Shorth) arrived in his life. Shorth was always a demanding hatchling and infant, and A'zu found that the best remedy for his dragonet's constant whining was to have everything ready for her before she began to complain, often meaning he got up before dawn to prepare her breakfast, bath, and oiling. As A'zu's mother remarked, she got him whipped into shape. A'zu is devoted, heart and soul, to Shorth and would do anything to make her happy; it was the only thing on earth that could have motivated him, it seems. Certainly, A'zu still likes to sleep in whenever possible (once in a blue moon, now) and he has no fondness for dull routine and chores, but he does them because he has to, and because it helps Shorth.

Shorth was also very firm about thread - that is to say, he had better be motivated about it, and work heart and soul with her to prepare for it. After all, weren't they going to be the last Weyrling group graduated before threadfall started? Hadn't they rather a lot to learn? A'zu is taking thread very seriously, therefore; he is one of the best at flight drills and manouvers, and he knows a great deal of thread tactic - which pattern to use in event of this kind of fall, et cetera. Shorth insisted he delve into the records, once she found out they existed; he has become quite accomplished. It is for this reason that both Wingleaders are rather interested in aquiring him for their wings.

Persona History:

Anizu's mother, Anazla, entertained a fantasy for most of her youth that a dashing bronzerider would sweep her off her feet and weyrmate her, thus making a life of drudgery unnecessary. The girl was deluding herself, and after she realized it, she wasn't happy. Deciding she might as well benefit from being in the Weyr anyways, she became a bit of a flightmoth; it is for this reason that A'zu's parentage is unknown. She thinks, but isn't sure, that it was a brownrider.

A'zu didn't really care, and still doesn't. He wasn't alone in not knowing who his father was, and since his mother fed him and cleaned him and made sure he knew his teaching ballads, he really doesn't have much to complain about. He grew up a regular brat, and began standing at twelve. He was so small and scrawny as a boy that most of the other candidates ridiculed him, but after he got his growth, on his fourteenth birthingday, the laughter died down. Anizu was pretty lax about minor things like chores and lessons during his candidacy; the Weyrlingmaster was annoyed to find out he hadn't retained any of the lessons prior to the hatching on the care of an infant dragonet. Still, he muddled through Weyrlinghood alright, and was devoted to Shorth.

Shorth was the most beautiful thing in the world to him. He had never had any interest in girls before, but this supremely feminine personality delights and entrances him. She loves him dearly too, and they had the best early mindlink of any of the Weyrlings. This may be simply because Shorth whined more than the other hatchlings, but A'zu would never dream of saying so.

Dragon Information:

Name: Shorth
Age: 17 Months
Color: Green

Dragon Appearance:

Shorth is quite the little lady, though at 17 months and her adult growth, she isn't little anymore. She has a fragile, delicate green, not the bold, bright tones of some greens, or the dark forest shades of others, but rather a celadon green, light, even, and very feminine. The green is in slightly darker shades tinting her neck ridges, the skin around her eyes and nostrils, and the wingbones; it is a pale pastel shade on her wingsails. She isn't a small green, about the size of a small blue, but is proportioned like a green dragon.

Dragon Personality:

Shorth is the go-getter, the doer, the forceful one of the relationship. Always determined to be in the thick of things, she gets involved in all sorts of situations, from wing meetings she's not suppost to be privy to, to candidate classes, to watching the incoming tithe trains. She loves to fly, and spends a great deal of her time airborne; she reveled in her first flight. Spirited and playful, she is a delight to associate with, and her almost insistent optimism is a refreshing change after the solemn nature of some blues and browns.

Shorth loves her rider A'zu to pieces, but can't quite see why he enjoys doing nothing so much. For Shorth, a moment when not prying into someone else's business or training to excel in some field is a moment wasted; she constantly cajoles her rider into getting out there and doing something. A'zu, compliant and passive as always, does as told. Shorth isn't the smartest dragon in the world, but sometimes it troubles her that her rider is so passive when she is so headstrong. Still, she usually just decides that A'zu does whatever she tells him to because she's always right, not because he has a problem with standing up for himself.
