Father: F'kilto, deceased, brownrider.
Siblings: T'lobl, 54, Acting Weyrleader
Foster Parents: Doora, deceased, Assistant Cook
Significant Other: None

Persona Appearance:
A'bero bears a strong resemblance to T'lobl, and has, to his great embarassment, been mistaken for the former Weyrleader on many occaisions. The brothers share a large, straight nose, swarthy complexion, blue-green eyes and hair, once brown, that is now a dark grey shade. They aren't exact copies, though; A'bero is a good fingerlength taller, at about 6'3," one of the tallest men in the Weyr. He also looks a bit younger than his brother, not having had the stress of a Weyrleader's job. In fact, as the two have sometimes said, A'bero looks far more like a Weyrleader should than T'lobl does. He's in better shape, is somewhat more handsome, is taller, and is usually better dressed (T'lobl has no dress sense).
Persona Personality:
T'lobl inherited all the ambition in the family, apparently, for A'bero has always been fairly laid-back. Or so most think. Few remember how headstrong A'bero was as a boy and young candidate; fewer remember how the Candidate Master was quite sure that A'bero would impress bronze. The Candidate Master, however, did not know of A'bero's preferences, nor that A'bero was headstrong not because he wanted to be a leader but because he didn't want to be lead by idiots. A'bero is not a take-charge type; he just doesn't take any guff from anyone.
Age and experience has toned down his youthful defiance; while A'bero still won't obey a stupid order, he won't tell his superior that, and won't advertise to the world what a rebel he is. That belonged to his youth, A'bero firmly tells those who remember him as a boy, and not to the adult wingrider. A'bero is still smart, though, and can be impetuous; his weyrmating broke up when, after Tovith was caught by another blue, A'bero told Y'mer that if he didn't like it, he could sharding well get out. Y'mer did, and A'bero still won't apologize.
A'bero resented from the moment of impression (though he has never let on to Tovith) that it had to be green. Greenriders don't lead, or do anything of interest in a Weyr; while having a bronzeriding brother spared him from some punishments his tongue incurred over the years, T'lobl was no liberal himself. A'bero knows he is smarter than his brother, if not as good a leader, and he will always be angry that it was little T'lobl and not he who ended up a leader. Still, A'bero loves his brother; it was A'bero, after all, who taught T'lobl how to whistle, how to skip rocks on the Weyr lake, and, later, it was A'bero who helped teach T'loble how to make and mend flight straps and how to tell, by taste, where a wine was vinted. Even in later years, the two remained fairly close, dining together fairly regularly, and keeping on a first name basis even in public.
Persona History:
A'bero - Akibero - was the first child of Deoby, a female greenrider. She hooked up with brownrider F'kilto during a flight (Deoby's green had a thing for older browns) and A'bero was the result; a few turns later, T'lobl came into being. As is the norm in a Weyr, both were fostered off, and Akibero grew up with a number of caretakers. His mother dropped in regularly with treats and hugs; his father showed up only when Akibero was searched.
Akibero began standing at twelve, like most weyrbrats; he had hopes to impress a bronze. As he passed puberty, though, he realized that he was just as interested in boys. This was a problem he was determined would not get in the way of his ambitions; he did not want to forever be stuck listening to old sticks-in-the-mud who hadn't had a new thought in decades. That was back when Nasha was Weyrwoman, and the leadership was in stagnation; liberal, headstrong boys did not have much scope for their talents.
At fifteen turns, though, Akibero became A'bero when Tovith chose him, and his dreams for leadership came to an end. He loved his dragonet, but wished and wishes that she had been a brown or bronze, or that greens could be wingleaders. Young A'bero was resentful; the present rider has come to terms with his situation. As a weyrling, A'bero was a nightmare to any Weyrlingmaster. Always second-guessing leadership and daring his fellows to do ridiculous stunts, A'bero was censored often. T'lobl sometimes told his brother to tone it down, as he didn't want to look bad from association. A'bero told his brother to go bend a tail and butt out of his business.
When A'bero graduated, few wingleaders wanted him, but he got drafted into the wing of a seasoned but intelligent wingleader. This was the best thing that could have happened to him; faced with firm discipline but an intelligent and understanding leader, A'bero finally came to terms and stopped trying to "rebel." He found a few friends, settled down, and cheered when his brother impressed bronze - A'bero's dream, now T'lobl's.
A'bero was a fairly normal rider, enjoying some sideaffects of his brother's political success but mostly trying to tone down the attention it garnered. Being a greenriding brother of the Weyrleader was rather embarassing, actually; candidates especially seemed to assume that all dragonriding brothers were alike in preference and personality. A'bero made an effort to stay close to his brother during the difficult years leading to and during his brother's Weyrleadership; while T'lobl really didn't seem to care whether the relationship kept up, A'bero was very fond of his younger brother, and saw him as the success that could have been his.
A'bero grieved when Santara died, for she had been well-loved in the Weyr, and as T'lobl's brother he had known her better than most greenriders in the Weyr. He felt that Xianine's leadership was disastrous, as indeed it was, and while glad that Alandra has taken over in place of the Jr. Weyrwoman, he doesn't trust her yet.
Dragon Information:
Name: Tovith
Age: 42 Turns
Color: Green
Dragon Appearance:
Tovith has aged less gracefully than A'bero has. Her once lime color has gone grey around the edges, an unflattering shade, and she has become a little fat in the belly. She is stiff in the mornings, and needs much longer periods in the sun to become mobile, and her flying is a little clumsy before it has gotten truly warm. However, as she will tell anyone who dares comment on her aging, she is still quite capable to fly in a wing, and isn't about to hear some young thing tell her how they know better.
Dragon Personality:
Tovith was the quiet partner in the relationship, doing as her rider wished and not causing any trouble. She has always been particularly adept at reading A'bero's thoughts, mostly because he never thinks to bury them from his quiet, passive green; she knows, therefore, that he would rather she had been a bronze. It saddens her a little, but like him she has come to terms with it. She loves him deeply, as he does her; that is all that matters in the end.
While Tovith has mostly let A'bero be the dominant one in the relationship, that doesn't mean she's passive with other greens. She has quite a tongue among other dragons, and will tell off any "young things" that dare to sass her.
