Seasons

Atora Weyr and the surrounding hold area, being located on the northern coast of the Southern Continent, experiences tropical weather all turn round. Weather generally does not dip below seventy degrees farenheit (dunno about Celsius *g*), and can climb as high as one hundred and ten degrees, although such temperatures are rare.

There are two main seasons: rainy and dry. The rainy season, which corresponds with the Southern Continent's Summer, lasts from months 11 - 3. The dry season, which is one month longer, lasts from months 4-10. During the rainy season, there are generally showers every day, and periods of clear weather are few and far between. Tropical storms role off the coast and can cause havoc on Atora Island and Daragon Hold, although they rarely swing inland enough to affect Jinani Hold. The dry season is long, hot, and uncomfortable, although 'dry' is a relative term. While much of the inland portion of the Southern Continent experiences spells of weather as long as a month without any rain, the coastal regions still recieve precipitation due to their close proximity to the ocean and wet air masses. Emerald Forest Hold, however, sometimes recieves less rainfall than the other holds, and is most affected by the dry season and possible droughts. As it is the major grain producer, this can be problematic.

Month One Weather:

Month one is blazingly hot in the South, accompanied by muggy, humid weather and regular rainshowers. Intelligent people will spend as much time as possible in the ocean and Weyrlake!

Day 1: Overcast but hot.
Days 2-7: Light drizzle at night, clear in the day. Warm.
Days 8-9: Clear and sunny; fog rolling in on the ninth.
Day 10: Foggy at humid. Very hot.
Days 11-14: Clear and sunny, upwards of 90 degrees Farenheit.
Day 15: Reaches above 100 degrees farenheit, no cloud cover. Severe danger of heat exhaustion.
Days 16 - 23: Humid and rainy. Occasional sun in the mornings.
Days 24-26: Torrential rains, quite warm.
Day 27: Drizzle in the morning; clears up near nightfall.
Day 28: Clear, but rain clouds advancing over Jinani Hold.

Month Two Weather:

Though still rainy, it is somewhat less hot. The grass and trees will be lush and green, and it will be necessary to sear encroaching green near holds and Weyrs.

Day 1: Heavy thundershowers over Atora Island, lighter rain on the mainland.
Days 2-4: Quite warm. Skies clear until evening of the fourth.
Days 5-8: Drizzle and fog over island, muggy and cloudy on the mainland.
Day 9: Clear skies, hot sun, and good ocean conditions. Perfect swimming time!
Day 10: Cooler, in the seventies. Not humid.
Days 11-15: Regular four o'clock thunderstorms; clear skies otherwise.
Day 16: Light rain, very humid. Ninety degrees farenheit.
Days 17-20: Sunny skies! Warm, with a good stiff ocean breeze.
Days 21-24: Cloudy, but dry. Cooler.
Days 25-28: Rainy, and hot. Very humid.
