Love Hina Characters
Keitaro Urashima
Keitaro's hobbies include drawing sketches and collecting photo stickers, although he's usually alone in those pictures and wishes to have a girlfriend. He is also a prolific daydreamer who occationally lands in very awkward situations because of his fantasies. However, the dream that bothers him the most is the vague memory of a promise he made to a girl 15 years ago to attend Tokyo U. together. While he probably isn't smart enough to make it into Japan's most prestigious university, but that doesn't keep him from trying.
After two failed attempts at matriculation, he takes up a job at the Hinata Inn to support himself as he tries again to realize the promise of his past. Despite being the manager, he's usually ends up as the Hinata Inn's punching bag. However, his experiences there and his relationship with Naru makes him fully understands why he's fixated on Tokyo U. as well as who he's doing it for.
Naru Narusegawa
It seems like Naru is actually the one in charge at Hinata Inn since all the other residents all look up to her and not Keitaro. A troubled family life led her to move into to Hinata Inn. As a 3rd year high school student, she's one of the students in all Japan and took first place in the national prep. examination.Like Keitaro, she too is trying to gain acceptance into Tokyo University with a promise to a person from her past as one of her main motivations. However, because she studies so much, she has become pretty much blind and requires glasses to see anything beyond 5 inches. She's also given up clubs and doesn't have much of a social life because of her studies.
Her relationship with the new manager, Keitaro, is a love/hate one. They both live as neighbors, with Naru living on the floor above separated by a hole in the ceiling/floor. Both Keitaro and Naru refer to each other with "aitsu" which more or less means "that guy/gal." While she thinks Keitaro's mind is somewhat dirty, she can't help having some affection for him. However, this affection is rather painful for Keitaro who has to endure her endless punches.
Mutsumi Otohime
Mutsumi is a seemingly happy-go-lucky type of girl who is anemic and is prone to collapses. She is first introduced when Keitaro run into her, causing her to collapse into a death-like state (at Tokyo U. in the anime, on the boat in the manga). After a brief panic, she revives and brings relief to Keitaro who thought he had just murdered a girl.
Mutsumi isn't academically inclinde as evidenced by the rank she got in the nationwide exam. She really isn't all that self-conscious about being seen or touched by another person, especially Keitaro (Naru kicks Keitaro's butt everytime for even the smallest infraction), and gives kisses to anyone she's become fond of. She's forgetful at times, and usually doesn't think things through. She is very similar to Keitaro in that they're both clumsy, both love doing the same things (i.e. taking PURIKURAs), and they've both failed the extrance exam the same number of times. However, despite all her flaws, she sometimes shows more emotional maturity than anyone else put together. And just like Keitaro, she also has the determination to make it into Tokyo U. because she too had promised someone in the past that she would attend.
Motoko Aoyama
At the beginning of the series Motoko is off somewhere is a training camp. She eventually shows up on the third episode. Then when she appears, we then see that she is very good at kendo.
The first encounter with Motoko and Keitaro started on the day when it was a drizzling and Keitaro's friends looked at Motoko. It was then that she attacked him and made him regret being with his so called friends (haha). Once Keitaro reaches the Inn and becomes manager, Motoko objects to it. After Keitaro stays for a bit longer Motoko's feelings start get the better of her, and thus her feelings go different directions and paths. Over all Motoko is a good swordswoman (hey what do i call her?) and lives a good and humble life. Love confuses her but then she finds the right way.
Mitsune/Kitsune Konno
Mitsune is a carefree girl that looks a bit taunting in the beginning. Mitsune isn't really like Naru, but they are best friends.
Mitsune trys to live the goodlife. She lays around, helps around the Inn, tags along and makes everything fun, can be a great mom, and the best part... DRINKING SAKE!!! WOO!! There isnt much to say about this woman. But what are the secrets hidden behind those eyes?
Shinobou Maehara
At the beginning of Love Hina. We find out that Maehara Shinobu is a Junior High School student, who is experiencing a lot of problems in her life. Her parents had problems and she just wanted to get away from everyone.
Shinobou encounters Keitaro but ignores him and just sit on a bench a few feet away. Keitaro draws her but in the picture she is smiling instead of crying. She sees this and really does start to smile. This little girl has feelings for Keitaro but is nervous to show it. Shinobou's *older sister (not really her sister but you know a really good friend that acts like one)* always helps her with problems and her love life. Shinobou is a very young and sweet character.
Kaolla Su
In the series Kaolla pops out of the blue once Keitaro is comes in as the manager. She attacks him with toy remote controll tanks shooting small little bullets at him. But Keitaro still goes flying(haha!).She is a young girl just trying to have fun with her experiments. Kaolla goes pretty far into making her inventions. Kaolla has really strong feelings for Keitaro because she thinks Keitaro looks like her older brother. So you know Kaolla... oh boy..
Haruka Urashima
We first see Urashima Haruka, when she shows up in the first episode to calm the girls in the Hinatasou. Our first impression of Haruka is that of a very bland character. She doesn't show a lot of emotions. The only emotions that she shows is when she attacks Keitaro for calling her "Auntie Haruka", which in Japanese, Auntie also means Old Woman.Haruka is the main authority in Love Hina. She mainly controls the Hinatasou and the Hinata Beach House as well. She is an excellent business person and knows how to get the yen flowing.
There isn't much to say about Haruka except the fact that she is a very intelligent person and knows when the right time is to make an appearance.
