Major Depression

  1. Continual low moods
  2. Feelings of anguish and hopelessness
  3. Loss of interest in most activities
  4. Tedious to motivate themselves to do any activities
  5. Have low self–esteem
  6. Constant thoughts of death and suicide
    • Lasts about 6 months.
    • A kind of recurring disorder





Atypical Depression

Also known to be a subtype of our previous type, Major Depression
  1. Hallucination
    1. Example: Hearing voices but in reality, no one is calling you
  2. Delusions
    1. Example: Unreasonable thinking





Bipolar Depression

  1. Have moods between extreme high when they feel invincible and frantic when they feel despair (cyclical)
  2. Brain is overactive
  3. Lack of sleep
  4. Leads to inability to concentrate
  5. Also known as manic depression
    • Last for at least a few weeks





Dysthymic Disorder

  1. Usually last for at least 2 years (Long-Term)
  2. Fatigue
  3. Eating problems
  4. Constant negative thinking
  5. Arduous in concentrating which can lead to memory problems
    • Can lead to chronic disorder




Postnatal Depression (PND)

  1. Also known as “baby blues”
  2. Occurs during the first year of parenthood
  3. When the birth of a child or 6 months after




Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Happens during the fall winter seasons and disappears during the spring - summer seasons
    The symptoms :
  1. Excessive eating and weight-gain
  2. Oversleeping
  3. Reserved or keeping silent
