House Committee – Nancy Riale/Lisa McVey
The house mourns loss of our Bar Manager, Al Gerike. For those of you who have been away for the winter or who have not heard, Al passed away early in April. The staff as well as the members will surely miss Al as a great bar tender, co-worker, and friend. He passed peacefully at home with his loving sister at his side. A wake was held in the Sussex Room on the 10th of April to give tribute to Al. His family, close friends from the Moose club, American Legion and many of our members spoke of their love and friendship for Al.
With sadness we inform you that our Dinning Room Manager, Lori Ruger, is still under a doctor’s care for the head injury she sustained in January. The house at this time will replace Lori with a wait captain and bar tender, however we wish the best for Lori and hope some day she may be able to return if there is an opening. Lori did an excellent job running the dinning room along with many other duties that were never seen by the members. She will be missed and difficult to replace.
Our Third Oyster Feast was as usual a huge success and we plan to have another in the early fall. Easter Brunch was a success with attendance of 240. Thank you for your continuing support of the club house.
As I am sure you have noticed, there are no blinds in the Grille Room. They were in bad shape and were beyond repair. We have gotten bids to replace them and have decided to go with Budget Blinds of Seaford, Delaware. Their salesman has agreed to let us purchase the blinds, regardless of the number we purchase, for the same price of $141.00 per window, with a lifetime guarantee. The windows facing the southwest side of the room will be replaced first, as the sun is so strong in the afternoon and early evening. We already have several members who have given enough donations to purchase seven window blinds. If you would like to contribute for more window blinds, please see our general manager, myself, or one of the house committee members.
Our long time member, Neil McCauley continues to help us in the renovation of the clubhouse. The long hallway from the front door to the Grille Room looks great. Soon he will continue through the hall way to the Sussex Room with fresh paint and also repaint the Sussex Room. Thank you Neil for your love of SPCC.
