(transcribed from Rick's post-race notes)

Swim 1:03 Heartrate (HR) ?140-150?
Bike 5:29 Average HR 133
Run 4:11 Average HR 147

Longest swim, bike, or run I've ever done.

Swim - Rough with 2000 person mass start. Very crowded and physical. Water appeared calm, but very choppy in spots. Very tight starting second lap, started cramping a little in calves.

Bike - felt real smooth, kept HR under 140. Was at 2:36 for the first 55 miles, thought I'd come in 5:10-5:15, then started to have breathing problem. Couldn't inhale fully - had to curtail pace. Afraid I wouldn't finish.

Run - after transition felt great due to low HR on bike, but still couldn't breathe well, afraid of not finishing. Felt okay with HR around 150, breathing 2/2. First 13 miles in 1:54. Then started to hurt - couldn't take in calories - only sips of water and coke on the run and one gel shot. Felt bloated and nauseous. Got through it though, 4:11 marathon. Finish felt great, not as emotional as I expected, maybe because I wasn't as fast as I wanted. Still, great to be an Ironman.
