Djibouti and Japan have been enjoying a very close and excellent friendly relationship and cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and understanding. Both countries share a common perspective on a number of issues of worldwide importance such as the promotion of peaceful relations between the members of the United Nations through dialogue and economic cooperation. The Ticad process whose 4th conference will take place in the coming years is a tremendous endeavor by Japan , Africa and Asian countries to implement trough ownership and partnership the development of the Africa.
The bilateral cooperation has continued to be active in the field of education and technical cooperation. In recent year, the Japanese cooperation has contributed to the government policy of an educative system open and free for all by building school infrastructure. Djibouti has also extended its support to Japan initiatives in the world arena and in particular the reform of the U.N and the expansion of the Security Council.
In another hand the Japan assistant is not only limited on governmental sectors. There are a deep interaction between the people of Djibouti and Japanese NGO, for instance JICA has been engaged in many activities, teaching and training Djiboutian know-how by offering them an opportunity to come to Japan in order to increase their skills
Moreover The Tokyo University of Agriculture have been in Djibouti for more than one decade, the university has been leading a very positive campaign of greening the desert and training the local people how to plant the most suitable trees and protect them.
Finally ,since the Djibouti has biggest international port with a free zone and the most liberal economic in the east African region with almost unrestricted banking and commerce sector we hope a large volume of investment and trade between the two countries, There must be incentives for further people and people relations through tourism, cultural exchange and decentralized cooperation.
Indeed this year Djibouti is participating in the World Expo 2005 AICHI Japan, which is holding in Nagoya. Djibouti is demonstrating her beautiful culture and heritages that has been admired by the honorable guest and huge people that we have invited them as a friends of Djibouti from the government, the private sector, cultural organizations and civil society
