Page 32 of "The Revolutionary Soldiers of Catholic Presbyterian Church - Chester County, South Carolina" by Mary Wylie Strange, 1946, Chester District Genealogical Society, Richburg, SC, 1978, says that his will, Apt. 8, pkg. 120, Chester Co., SC, signed 1798, proved 9 Dec 1799, mentions his son, George Cherry, who is omitted from the article by Louise G. Knox on page 136 of "Heritage History of Chester County, South Carolina", 1982.
First marriage of Robert Cherry. Page 136 of "Heritage History of Chester County, South Carolina", 1982, says that they had three children, but Robert's will mentions another son George.
Robert CHERRY married Letitia LEACH in 1780 in North Ireland
then they came to America about 1785,
and settled near Richburg, Chester County SC.
Robert died 15 July 1798 and Letitia died 10 May 1833.
They are buried at Union Church in Richburg.

Page 22 of Our Branch of the Cherry Family Tree by James Robert CHERRY Jr. and Cherry SMITH CURTIS Oct. 1992 says: "National Archive records show that Gregory was in the service during the War of 1812, serving as a drummer. He was about 27 at the time and attached to Captain William Chestnut's Company, First Regiment, South Carolina Militia, serving from 1814 to 1815. There is no evidence he participated in military action since South Carolina was not in the geographical area where the War of 1812 was fought. ..."

2. GEORGE(2) CHERRY (ROBERT(1) was born 1755 in Co. Antrim, Ireland, and died Bef. July 01, 1806 in Chester County, South Carolina. He married JENNET CHESTNUT Abt. 1785, daughter of DAVID CHESTNUT and JENNET BROWN.
Notes for GEORGE CHERRY:
He immigrated to South Carolina, arriving in Charleston on December 20, 1772 aboard the "Lord Dunluce", it was captained by, Captain Guillies . On January 6, 1773 he was granted 100 acres of land. This land was on Fishing Creek in what was Craven County at the time, but is now Chester County, South Carolina. Single men were granted 100 acres, married men were granted 150 acres, and men with children were granted an additional 50 acres per child. So it would appear that George Cherry was single at the time of his arrival to South Carolina.
He did not sell this land until 1809, selling it to Benjamin Booth (probably sold as part of his estate.
He married Jennet Chestnut, the youngest child of David Chestnut and Jennet Brown. Jennet Chestnut was born about 1760 in Ireland. She arrived in South Carolina with her parents in 1772. Jennet Chestnut Cherry Died August 1840 in Chester County, South Carolina.
