Civil War Songs & Interpretations
for
Living History

"Every Month Is History Month."

Our nation's history is very fragile for it is recorded in such temporary forms as books, letters, diaries, or other forms of literature. These direct sources, while filled with immense knowledge often fail to be seen by the public eye.

Without historical Interpreters such as Valarie Petty Boyer much of our nation's heritage would be lost for the general public.

Valarie Petty Boyer teaches others our important history to others by using her skills of narration, singing and immense knowledge of the American legacy in her exciting and invigorating programs.

The people she portrays in her performances ranges from a runaway slave trying desperately to escape to the Northern states using the famous Underground Railroad, a black abolitionist from of affluence who lived during the Civil War, to an early 20th century school teacher who shows what education used to be like in this country.

Ms. Boyer's programs shows us that history is not simply a string of important events that are listed chronologically in text books filled with nothing but cold facts, that many people's introduction to history includes, but instead she shows us that it is in fact a vivid and exciting adventure into the lives of Americans much like the ones in her audience.
