This is a report i sent someone, quite some time ago...

I have a 10,500lb 2 speed Milemarker Hydraulic Winch. I've had the thing since the beginning of 98 and have used it about 11 or 12 times,  i have 36's so when i get stuck, i get STUCK. But it pulls me out , and others EVERYTIME.

The 1500's usually dont have any type of Heavy Duty Coils up front. So if u put a a heavy Electric Winch up front, your whole front end is gonna sag abit. The MM is alot lighter compared to the average 10,000 lb electric winch. They can run just about forever, and dont need cooling. HECK, they can even run when they are totally submerged underwater, ( why your truck is underwater, i dont even wanna know :)..well actually i do..

OKAY. heres the tradeoff.. if u even wanna call it that.........   ..

Everyone agrees that the biggest drawback is,, and i even agree, is that it wont run with your engine shut down. Hmm. that sux.
But then think about it. how many times have YOU gone wheelin that your engine will actually stall out.. i would think none. i do a pretty good amount of wheelin, (usually in mud) and i have NEVER stalled out.  ***   ALSO..  ***  THINK OF IT THIS WAY,, if your wheelin, and your engine DOES stall out, , , then that means YOU must be in some pretty deep and nasty s*it. lets assume you have an electric. since u must be PRETTY WELL STUCK, how long do u actually think your battery, (and we'll even assume you have the godly optimas), will last with the huge amounts of drain that an electric winch uses., thats just the winch with no load. NOW lets INCLUDE the fact that ur stuck pretty darn well. .. i dont think even the optimas can save you....thats all i'm gonna say bout that..

Installation....

Installation is a breeze, DONT let the fact that since its Hydraulically Operated scare u away from installing it yourself and saving yourself a $100.  The hoses, Fittings, and everything else are included with the winch.  Its simple.. it simply goes inline with your power steering lines. ..    from Power Steering Pump, to winch, to Steering Box , to cooler, then back to Pump. ,, the ONLY line your disconnecting is the line that connects the pump to box. thats where the winch goes. then u just add another line from winch to box. THATS IT!!.

I bought mine from     http://www.winchesplus.com/winches.htm

4wheelparts  is also selling them but more expensive..   They are selling a 9500lb warn winch for almost $900.00
Winches plus sells there 10,500lb 2 speed for $799.00
HMMM... lets see..  The MM  its faster, stronger, lighter, more durable, Needs no cool down periods and is cheaper,
seems like a no Brainer to me.   :)

Well have fun, and good luck.      Damien..
