The Horseshoe Lounge, and the remaining Paradise Valley ruins have been demolished and are now history. On December 12, 2001, I ran a Pic o' the Day that said I thought the Horseshoe Lounge would not be torn down, since they went through all the trouble to work around it for the past 2-3 years. Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up. Remember, this is Detroit, and this crap happens on an almost daily basis.
What did the 606 stand for?
The 606 Horseshoe Lounge was virtually all that was left of the historical "Black Bottom" or "Paradise Valley" area of Detroit, most of which was levelled in the '60's for the construction of Interstate 75. The name "Black Bottom" comes from the area which was once known for its fertile soil. Click here to read the news story about its demolition.

I wonder what these once were
The old Hudsons Warehouse is right next door to the Horseshoe. It's being renovated into luxury suites for the new football stadium.
I wonder if Santa ever pick up any supplies here?
A distant shot of the long gone Horseshoe Lounge. The "606" stands for 606 Adams, which was its address.
I wonder if they'll save the Horseshoe?

I wonder what the hell these once were?

When will this be done? When it is finished!
