The doomed Statler Hotel overlooking Grand Circus Park, as seen from the gaping Tuller Hotel hole. The DEGC, which stands for "Detroit Economic Growth Corporation" will spend $5 million to destroy the Statler. What will go in its place? Nothing, maybe another Tuller-like parking lot that nobody uses. The city of St. Louis restored their Statler. If Detroit continues tearing down its history, its chances of ever becoming a "World Class" city become slim or none. (...and slim just left town). Click here to see the St. Louis Statler.
