**VOLUNTEER INFORMATION**

Denton Humane Society is always looking for volunteers.
If you would like to volunteer for DHS you must:
* Be responsible and reliable
* Be at least 18 years old

We are presently in need of the following:
* Foster Homes--dogs/puppies or cats/kittens
* Help for Fund Raisers--general workers, photographers, Santa Claus, etc.
* People to Conduct Food Drives--we are seeing an increasing need for pet food.
* Mail Outs--folding papers and stuffing envelopes
* Occasional Help for Foster Families--transportation to veterinarian,
bathing, socialization, training, fence reinforcement, etc.

All pets must be on leashes, friendly to people & other pets
and current with vaccinations to attend DHS events.

KIDS CAN VOLUNTEER TOO!
DHS has youngsters inquire as to how they can help us help the dogs and cats that are rescued.
Here are some creative ways that school age children-and their parents too-can help.

Organize a neighborhood collection drive. Make a colorful and informative flyer that asks for donations or supplies that can be used by foster homes. Pass out the flyers to your friends and neighbors and post them throughout your neighborhood.
Organize a "Kids Karnival". Get a group of your friends together and have an event and invite all their friends and neighbors. Have games, relay sports, a junk sculpture contest and crafts. Everyone that comes can pay an entry fee or bring a bag of dog or cat food for admission. Donate all money to DHS.
On your next birthday have your friends bring a "pet present" to the party and make a cat or dog's day!
Find a few friends and have a lemonade stand at your home. Decorate the stand with stuffed animals and balloons. Donate all your money to DHS. On a hot day, you just may sell out!
Ask your teacher if you can organize a classroom drive to benefit DHS. Place a decorated box in your classroom to fill with dog and cat food. With the help of your teacher, you can help educate your classmates as to the need for the drive and your goal to help homeless animals. Maybe the whole grade level would like to participate or better yet the WHOLE school.
Write a report or do an oral presentation on DHS. This is a wonderful way to teach your friends about the important work done at DHS and shelters. Visit the foster homes of DHS and take pictures of the animals that are awaiting new homes and put with your report.
Ask your parents and neighbors if you can do odd jobs for them so you can donate the money to DHS.

Think up your own creative way to help the rescued dogs and cats.
