PET OF THE WEEK

Silas

Silas is a 7 month old pointer mix male.  I took pictures of him today but had difficulties because he wanted to lay on the ground and crawl to me.  He crawled across the yard!  Then, when we finally got him to sit, he wanted to stick his tongue out.  After we got him to keep his tongue in his mouth, he wanted to come and visit instead of sit and look pretty.  We finally got a few good shots but they don't show you the depth of his eyes.  You can't see how his coat shines with health and feel how soft and silky it is.  The photos don't even begin to capture his wonderful personality, his gentleness, his innate goodness, his easy-going whimsy.  Silas is completely housetrained.  He loves other dogs AND he adores cats.  He is always ready for a good game of fetch or a leisurely (or more fast paced) walk around the neighborhood.  Silas hopes for the best in every situation - he is an optimistic dog.  He is calm in the house and will lay at your feet (or on your feet, or even better, on your lap), but happily run and play outside.  If you are looking for a dog who can make you smile on your gloomiest days, a dog who will be your best friend through thick and thin, then you better take a good long look at our boy, Silas.  Please email Michele for an application at mehelfrich@pwhome.com.  Must have fenced yard.  Home check and vet check required.

The Denton Humane Society rescues and places hundreds of unwanted pets in loving, adoptive homes every year.  Most of these animals would have been euthanized if the Denton Humane Society had not provided for their care.  DHS carefully screens potential adopters to ensure the best possible match between guardians and their new pets.  Orphaned animals are kept in selective foster homes while awaiting adoption.  In these private homes they are nurtured and given veterinary care as well as being socialized in the family environment.
