BURNING ROCK MAINE ANJOU CATTLE

The Maine Anjou cattle originally came from France near the Anjou & Maine river valleys. They were a cross of the French Mancelle breed & the English Durham (Shorthorn) Breed. The original color was red & white & the fullblood Maines are still the red & white color. The Purebred Maine is a product of crossing with the Angus breed to attain the black color. Maine Anjou are know for early weight gain & docile temperments plus they have a good frame & big square rumps.

We maintain a registered Maine herd of percentage to Purebred black cattle. We have major sires represented in our cow herd including- Polled Pursuit, DMCC Excel, Amtrack, Pistol, Pete, Power Plant, Smithbuilt, Cunia, Epinal & Wallstreet. Our herdsire is a Polled Priority son. His first calves have just arrived. They are easy calving, vigorous calves with a great appetite. They are up & nursing soon after they are born, and running around at a few days old, like week old calves. These calves will make good herdsires for a Maine herd or commercial herd or great club calves. Most of our calves shown have placed in the top three & placed high in carcass class. These calves will be for sale in early fall. We also have fine bred cows for sale. Visitors are always welcome, just give us a call first. Please come back and visit again!
