In Memory of Steve Callard
Aka Kiwi Steve
This is Steve on his wedding day, April 2000 in Zimbabwe. I met Steve online in March of 1999. His wife Kate just informed me that he died suddenly of a massive heart attack on August 4th 2002. I must note Steve was a smoker.
In case you are wondering what this sound in the background is. Steve was a, die hard fan of New Zealand's national sport Rugby, and their team, the 'All Blacks'.
What you are hearing, is a Maori war chant, known as the 'Haka'. The New Zealand Rugby teams always perform the 'Haka', right before a match.
I have personally seen it being performed and I can honestly tell you, it really leaves the spectators watching speachless, and the opponents intimidated.
Steve would not miss an 'All Blacks' game for the love of anything.
Steve was funny, charming and extremely helpful. Steve's a website, was suspended after his demise.
On it he spoke proudly of his favorite sport and you could click to hear the 'Haka' when you wanted to.
This is a dedication to KiwiSteve, he loved the web, and he loved Rugby, and he loved his family. So what better tribute to Steve, than all the things he treasured the most, on one page forever?
Steve leaves behind his wife Kate who is devastated, and their three little boys, who he was step father to.
Their biological father died just a four years ago of cancer.
