As you can see, there are many factors involved with hazardous
waste. From the generation of it, to its transport, and its ending at a
landfill or through incineration, hazardous waste effects many people. It
is clear that it is a problem and that the risks and costs do need to be
reassessed. Higher fines and being on top of companies that are the prime
producers are ways to help eliminate this problem. The EPA is involved somewhat, but they can do even more, especially when it comes to incurring
fines. Once it is clear that the public will not tolerate local companies
creating hazardous waste then we will begin to see a change. It is also
important to be aware of how the public itself is generating hazardous
waste. Buying products that promote a sustainable environment should be a
top priority. This means only buying products made from renewable
resources and buying products that don't create hazardous waste. Having
this awareness will effect the public, the companies, and the government.
In turn everyone will benefit and accidents resulting from hazardous waste
could become obsolete.
