Chelsea boss Ruud Gullit raided his native Holland to sign Dutch international goalkeeper Ed De Goey from Feyenoord for £2.25million on a five-year contract.

Once De Goey became aware of Gullit's interest he did not need much persuading to join the ranks of overseas stars at Stamford Bridge.

``This is a dream move,'' said De Goey, who has won 29 international caps. ``Several Dutch and Spanish clubs have shown an interest in me but when I knew Ruud wanted me there was only one club for me Chelsea. The prospect of playing in England with a big club like Chelsea really excites me.''

The keeper started his career with Sparta Rotterdam and made his debut for them in the 1985/86 season before moving on to neighbours Feyenoord in 1990.

De Goey has made over 400 first-team appearances for the two clubs and since joining Feyenoord has only missed eight games, two because of injury and six through suspension.
