Hello and welcome to Salernitana UK, a site created by Richard Di Palma, Salernitana's top fan! This is the only UK site of Salernitana. If you haven't worked it out already, Salernitana is an Italian football team currently in Serie B (Italian 2nd Division). You may be wondering why I've made a whole site devoted to a 2nd division team. The answer why is because Salernitana is a local team from where my dad was born, and because they did so well when in Serie A in the 1998-1999 season (when they beat the top Serie A clubs, e.g. Juventus).

If there are any problems or comments about the web site, or anything about Salernitana in general, please feel free to either leave a comment in my guestbook or email me using the link on the left.

Ancona 4 Salernitana 1
What a disappointing result against newcomers Ancona. There was no excuse since Di Michele was back. Ancona scored first through Parente in the 31st minute of the first half. One minute after, Eddy Baggio scored, who scored again in the 42nd minute. Salernitana salvaged a goal scored by Vannucchi in the 28th minute of the second half but it was too late. Ancona added to the humiliation by scoring again in the 41st minute of the second half by a penalty by Eddy Baggio, which completed his hatrick. Salernitana had a man sent off in the 40th minute. It was Bolic, a key defender. Salernitana have to do better than this to challenge for promotion.

Salernitana 3 Piacenza 0
An excellent result against the former Serie A team. Salernitana dominated this match, even without the presence of Di Michele. Vignaroli opening the scoring in the 5th minute of the first half. This early goal was the vital psychological advantage they needed. Chianese (who is not chinese!) scored in the 4th minute of the second half via a penalty. Vannucchi scored the third in quick succession in the 8th minute of the second half. This match, however, included two red cards, both players of Piacenza: Statuto in the 15th minute in the first half for a and Boselli in the 4th minute of the second half for taking out a player when he was the last man.

Ternana 0 Salernitana 0
This was a tough fixture away from home, but Salernitana came away with a point. However, Salernitana were without their top striker, Di Michele, which showed with their lack of confidence in front of goal. Nevertheless, a good result.

Treviso 1 Salernitana 0
After three consecutive victories, Salernitana were looking to make an assult on Serie B. However they put in a disappointing performance against Treviso. The game was one-sided for the home team, who played with great concentration and determination. The only goal of the match was scored in the 18th minute by Pizzi of Treviso. Other than the goal, there were many fouls committed: 30 by Treviso and 23 by Salernitana. There was also a sending off of Moscardi of Salernitana in the 85th minute for his second yellow. Salernitana need to do a lot of thinking for their next match against Ternana, who are above them in the table.

Salernitana 3 Siena 0
Salernitana's form continues! An excellent 3-0 victory at home to, before the match, a top of Serie B team. What made this victory even more outstanding was the fact that this match was played in awful conditions. There had been some heavy rain in Salerno over the past week and the pitch was water-logged. The match was bordering on being called off. Salernitana's goals came late in the first half, scored by Guidoni in the 35th minute, and two more in the second half, scored by Vannucchi in the 63rd minute and Moscardi in the 73rd minute. As a result of this victory, Salernitana moved to 5th position in the table. A most encouraging start to the season.
