Our main administrational office - the place we send invoices from ! - our Sutton site has a serious operational purpose. Fraud within businesses increases every year; to help our clients combat this erosion of their profits our experienced staff have specific business skills including forensic accountancy . Mixing the knowledge of an investigative accountant with IT experts and general investigators is not a new idea, but one that is frequently effective.

Forensic Accountancy
That mysterious term again….what does it mean?
Essentially this accountant's "black art" is the use of accountancy techniques to pinpoint numerical anomalies - when 2 + 2 may still equal 4, but only because the true path has been covered. Often it is a case of identifying wrongdoing through numeracy; a forensic accountant may also be called to:

investigate trading or economic history (fraudulent or not)

assess future performance

give evidence as an "expert" in the witness box

identify where anomalies have occurred and instruct investigators accordingly.

Use in Law:
White Collar Crime - a trained forensic accountant will detect the true pattern of behaviour
Divorce - particularly where a spouse is self-employed or has otherwise complicated finances
Personal Injury Claims - when loss of future earnings cannot be computed by use of simple career structure or formula;
Commercial Claims - involving negligence, contractual or breaches of intellectual property claims, especially when there may be an element of future loss

Computer Fraud
