Be sure you are aware of the differences between: invasive species, indicator species, keystone species and native species. Know examples from each of these groups.

Know the differences between and be able to cite examples of: mutualism, commensalism, parasitism, predator-prey relationships.

Know what we mean by ecological succession. Be able to distinguish between primary and secondary succession. Know what is meant by the climax community. Understand the factors that determine ecological succession.

Be sure to understand what is meant by carrying capacity.

Understand the factors that affect the birth rate and those that affect the death rate. Understand what is meant by the demographic transition and why it no longer is as effective as it once was. Know the difference between total fertility rate, replacement rate, age distribution, population growth rate, doubling time and infant mortality.

Understand the purpose of family planning.

Be able to explain the differences between India's and China's population regulation policies. What features of China's program could be transferred to other countries?

Understand what consitutes an urban area (2500 people or more). Know about hearing damage limits and harmful effects of noise. In what direction is the American population moving? What is meant by urban sprawl?
