Jenifer Aubry e-mail interview

Jenifer Aubry was so kind to take time away from her bust schedule to do a little e-mail questionare/interview for me! Thank you SO much Jen!!! For everything!


1. I just want to say thank you for doing this for me, I know you are very busy and I appreciate you taking the time to answer these questions!

Jen-Thank you for being interested!


2. How old were you when you first realized you wanted to become a singer/actress?

Jen- I will have to say 8 because I started really young to do plays with my older friends so ya 7 or 8...actually I realy made the decision in my first year of high-school but I always knew that's what I want to do...


3. How did you get started in music/musicals?

Jen- Well music I did my first concert at 12 well only one song and then I participated in contests and I did festivals. Actress, it's the same, it was combined. I started doing improvisation in my first year, I guess I was 13 and I went to theatre school. ah it's hard to explain i guess if you mean professionaly it would be in 1992 as a singer and 1993 acting...(professionaly) I started youger to do shows thow. Rent was my first real musical.


4. Who/what are your inspirations?

Jen- Life, the people I know, friends and family, what goes on in the world...Norman my manager.


5. Who are you favorite singers?

Jen- Cyndi Lauper, Sinead O'Conner, P.J Harvey, depeche mode, Jean Leloup, Alanis Morissette, I guess I could say more but those are the principals...


6. Favorite actors/actresses?

Jen- I have so many! Daniel Daylewis ( wrong spelling) Suzanne Surendon, Glen Glose, Juliette Lewis, Meg Ryan, Patricia Arquette, Antony Hopkins, Pascal Montpetit and Robert Deniro. O.k. sorry for the wrong spelling but I'm sure you know who I'm talking about...I love them all...


7. Movies/Television shows?

Jen- I don't watch t.v. but my fav movies I guess are "Life is Beautiful" and "In the Name of the Father" and Roberto Belini is now also part of my fav actors.. t.v. show my all time fav would be Roseanne and Threes Companie.


8. How did you first hear of Rent?

Jen- I was in rehersal for another show and this girl had done the auditon and was going to the finals and she told me that there was a caracther for me and that maybe I should try it out...But it was maybe to late, but i got the audition and guess what!


9. What did you sing for the auditions? Were you excited when you were cast as Maureen?

Jen- Amazing Grace and Bohemian Rapsity...Yes I was very happy...and proud...


10. Do you miss Rent?

Jen- Yes very much but I am also happy to be doing my stuff which is most important to me...Rent was a great time in my life and I will never forget it...


11. Do you keep in touch with your "Rent family"?

Jen- I do speak to some but now so often I can't wait until we meet again...But for sure when I get a chance to talk to them or see them I will...


12. Who do you think were your best cast member friends?

Jen- Krysten, Dominique, Luther, Cary, Karen, Tamara, Maggie and Melanie...I could name them all but those were the ones I spent the most of my time with...


13. How do you feel about Rentheads?

Jen- I think that the rentheads are ablolutly great!! I still write to some of them we keep in touch.. They are great supporters with a grand generosity that I think amazing... They have made me grow because of their kindness and great spirit and I've learned to be more of a real person towards my fans and for that I thank them... and i also thank them for being still there with me in my own projects...


14. How would you describe Maureen?

Jen- Self centered , excentric , ego lots of ego but i think she has good taughts, I mean she is willing to be good but I guess she hurts without really knowing... I think she cares and does what she wants and will defend her beliefs and go out of her way to prove a point...


15. If there was one thing you could say to Jonathan Larson, what would it be?

Jen- THANK YOU for making this show and I am happy that I was a part of it because it brought so much love in to me and he made me a better person just because of the story and the essence of life .. no day but today is more than right.. And maybe write something with him because I love the way he writes...


16. What was the nicest thing a Renthead has done for you? Scariest thing (if any)?

Jen- hum !!!There were no scary things well not that I remember.. In the beginning I was kind of dealing with all this big exposure but I learned and it's a good thing a good feeling.. the nicest thing.. everyone who I met and every smile and every card and words that they would say to me or give they were all nice and I can't really name one because I don't know ..to me every gesture were as important as the other...


17. What was your most embarrasing Rent moment on stage? Off stage?

Jen- On stage.. i fell twice at the same place in the same scene the fist time I laughed but the secomd I thought god I'm a clutz and I was kind of mad, but these things happen you know... off stage can't remember but if i do i will tell you o.k?


18. What was the most sad moment of your Rent experience?

Jen- The very last show I guess.. it was hard and I was like o.k I might never do this part again... and I had so much fun that it will be in me forever.. and Luther's last and Krysten's was also sad but I know I will see them again, I might never portray Maureen though...


19. Are any of your family members into music and acting like you?

Jen- No but my granddad played the fiddle and some are writers and they've always played music on my mom's side my dad 's side it's more the writers ...


20. If you could do something else other than sing or act (if anything else) what would you do?

Jen- I guess I would sing anyway...travel, and enjoy life in the best possible way.. I would do all kinds of stuff maybe work with animals but I would still sing...


21. Tell the truth, what did you *really* want to be as a child? ;-)

Jen- You want the truth? A singer and an actress.


22. What was the first play you were in?

Jen- If your talking of a real play I mean with an audience and not in a basement because I did that also plays in my friends basement we would write the play invite our teachers, parents and friends and we would do our show... but professionaly hum in high-school i did a play that we wrote and then in theatre scool the first was "Live Like Pigs" In french it was the first play I did on my last year in school...


23. What advice would you give to aspiring actresses and singers out there?

Jen- Be strong, patient, your time will come... work hard and especially have lots and lots of faith in yourself and believe it, believe that you can do anything and you will all you have to do is do it... trust yourself passion put your heart and spread the love...


24. Any final comments?

Jen- The most important thing is to be happy and if your not make sure you will... Do something because it makes you happy, do something that you love ...I wish all the best of luck in anything you want be happy peace and love and so much respect....jenifer.xxx
