A Guide to Serving Productive Time

Chicken Soup for the Prisoner’s Soul / Serving Time, Serving Others
Chicken Soup for the Volunteer’s Soul / Touched by Angels of Mercy

Seminar Presented by:
Tom and Laura Lagana

This seminar is designed for motivated inmates who have a sincere desire to commit to making positive changes in their lives.

Inmates can put their “time” to productive use by learning skills that will help them on the inside while they serve their sentence, as well as on the outside when they re-enter our society.

The content of our programs and books are known to:
- Inspire a calming and positive environment in the facility
- Reduce inmate violence and incidents while incarcerated
- Improve staff attitude and morale
- Increase the number of inmates successfully re-entering our society
- Reduce inmate complaints, lawsuits, and suicides
- Complement existing programs
- Allow all inmates to participate, whether in a group or on their own
- Provide opportunities for positive media attention for the facility
- Reduce costs to taxpayers
- Create a safer and more compassionate society

Our interactive and dynamic seminar focuses on the tools and life skills to:
- Increase self-confidence and self-esteem
- Set realistic, positive goals and take action to achieve them
- Develop successful leadership and parenting skills
- Be accountable, truthful, responsible, and compassionate
- Practice effective communication skills on a one-to-one and group setting

Our program is based on the values and principles in our books, “Chicken Soup for the Prisoner’s Soul” and “Serving Time, Serving Others.”

Each participant of our program will have the opportunity to receive a copy of our self-study Guidebook titled, “A Guide to Serving Productive Time,” allowing inmates to follow-through, in-depth and practice the principles of our seminar.

It is our hope and prayer that the inmates’ commitment to positive change will be instrumental in their returning to society as vital, contributing members, and that our program plays a significant role in their continued freedom.

The specific topics, included in our seminar and Guidebook include:
- Learning from Life’s Lessons
- Forgiveness
- Effective Communication
- Empathizing with Victims
- Managing Anger
- Managing Conflict
- Integrity
- Valuing Others
- Making a Difference and Serving Others
- Gratitude
- Family
- Compassion
- Respect

- Parenting
- Life’s Purpose
- Persistence
- Goals
- Spiritual Development

Things to consider:
- How much money would our taxpayers save if we kept just one inmate from being incarcerated again?
- What budget or funding can be made available for our educational program and books for inmates?
- Is there a sponsor that you or I should contact?
- How can we make this happen?

We have a responsibility to help those incarcerated to become successful members of our society. Contact us today, so that correctional facilities in your area can be a model of what is possible on a larger scale in your state and our country.

We look forward to working with you to make a positive difference. Please ask whomever you feel is appropriate to contact Tom Lagana below:
