Acts 16:16 Now as we were going to the place of prayer, a slave girl met us who had a spirit that enabled her to foretell the future by supernatural means. She brought her owners a great profit by fortune-telling. 16:17 She followed behind Paul and us and kept crying out, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation." 16:18 She continued to do this for many days. But Paul became greatly annoyed, and turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!" And it came out of her at once. 16:19 But when her owners saw their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the authorities. 16:20 When they had brought them before the magistrates, they said, "These men are throwing our city into confusion. They are Jews 16:21 and are advocating customs that are not lawful for us to accept or practice, since we are Romans."

A few years ago I called a fortune teller and asked her some questions about her trade. I asked her if she knew of Jesus and she said "yes." I said if you know who Jesus is, why do you continue to sin by doing something that He forbids? She pondered the question and then went into a small fit, crying out the name Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. I believe that the Holy Spirit had convicted her of her wrong and was sending the devil on his way.

Unfortunately her husband saw his money making opportunity pass before his eyes and grabbed the phone from her. He started to use vulgar obscenities and threatened me. He called me every name in the book, and as the devil would, tried to give me a free fortune telling by saying nasty things about my family. I would not give in and in anger he hung up.

The Bible tells us to avoid the fortune tellers. They are in business to make money off other people's emotions and give ungodly advice. We are not on this earth to reap earthly treasures but to store up our treasures in heaven.

When I was in college, we saw a film on how sheep were slaughtered. They were lead through a series of stalls by a goat to their final destination. Right before they hit the last gate to be slaughtered, the goat darted through a side door to safety. They called the goat a Judas goat because of it's encouraged betrayal.

Satan will use people as his own Judas goat. He will steer you from the path to heaven to the road that leads to eternal destruction. Do not seek advice from others when you can go directly to God in prayer. Stay on the path that leads to eternal life.
