Déjà vu

Deuteronomy 13:1-3"If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he spoke to you, saying, " Let us go after other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve them,' you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for the LORD your God is testing you to find out if you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul." NASB

The literal French translation for Déjà vu is 'already seen'. If you are not familar with the English application, it can be described as encountering something for the first time, yet you feel that you already experienced it. If you have read the Old and New Testament you can get a good taste of Déjà vu concerning false prophets in the present day and age. The Lord has warned us from the times of Moses that "dreamers" would be coming along, leading us astray. These "dreamers" are basically unrealistic people who attract other unrealistic people. Many are uneducated and came from broken homes. They long for to be in the spotlight and use religion as their focus.

There are many claims by various religious groups or leaders about experiencing visions or apparations from a diety, a celestial being or another person. These claims have caught the attention of religious seekers who trust others to lead their path to eternity.

Various Roman Catholic Church members, Joseph Smith, Edgar Cayce, Muhammed, Mary Baker Eddy (Christian Science), David Koresh, and Ellen G White all claim to have seen visions or apparations. The problem with the supposed visions or apparations is that they almost always change Biblical doctrine.

The Roman Catholic Church has turned Mary, the mother of the humanity of Jesus Christ, into a goddess due to the supposed apparations of her. Her apparations have changed Biblical salvation from Jesus dying on the cross to praying a rosary or wearing a scapular. Catholic members pray to her, kneel before, light candles to and place flowers before her image. The addition of the Apocrypha to the Bible is an easy way to promote some of their false doctrines.

Joseph Smith, Muhammed, and Ellen G. White all added witings to the Bible. The visions that Smith claimed produced the Book of Mormon, The Pearl of Great Price and Doctrine and Covenants. Smith claimed divine revelation from God the Father, Jesus Christ and an angel named Moroni. The Book of Mormon is based on a language that never existed (Reformed Egyptian) contains contradictions, and translation errors. The Pearl of Great Price is based on the Egyptian Book of Breathings and Doctrine and Covenants contains false prophecies.

Muhammed never saw the completion of the Qu'ran, it was poorly recorded and there were five editions available at one point. The Qu'ran contains many contradictions and is a hodge podge of scattered words. Ellen G White's writings are considered infallible and like the other cults are additons to the Bible (e.g., Early Writings The Story of Patriarchs and Prophets, The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan) and laced with plagiarism, Bible contradictions, false prophecies and myths. Even though she is dead, the Seventh Day Adventist Church gives her the title of prophetess, and the Lord's Messenger. It is interesting to note that the Branch Davidians lead by David Koresh were an off shoot of the Seventh Day Adventists.

It all comes down to Déjà vu. We have been warned well in advance, have most likely already encountered it and will see it again in the future. The dreamers have come and gone and more dreamers will follow. There is One however that has come, has gone and will come again. He is not a "dreamer" but our Lord. He is not a false prophet but a true Prophet. He did not add to the Bible, the Word of God, He is the living Word. Trust God and His Word, not man and his "dreams".
