Dear Fellow Homebrewers,Vinters and Enthusuasts;

I brewed my first batch of beer in 1993. It was an Amber made from a kit, well carbonated (perhaps a bit overly) and drinkable. This was only the second homebrew I had ever tasted, the first one I had had a year earlier so my recollection of that was vague at best. This first brew led to many more;stouts,lagers,brown ales, but each one left me wondering. "Just what do other peoples homebrews taste like?" I knew no other homebrewers and the closest homebrew shop was about 60 miles from me. I knew that there had to be a local homebrewing community here and I must seek them out and if not, I would pioneer an effort to introduce the hobby to the area.

I began on a shoe- string, stocking some kits and supplies needed for one to start brewing. I put out on consignment a few kits at a local hobby shop, took a table at a few flea markets and street fairs. I began to meet brewers and introduce a few newcommers to the hobby. Of course I fielded many questions from the curious passers-by. Soon it was realized that we had a small faternity growing and monthly get togethers were planned.

Success from these humble beginnings thus far has not been measured in monetary values, but in all the great pleasure I have expierenced in this exciting hobby. I have learned a great deal about beer styles, colors, hops, yeast, grains, wine, mead, cider, vinegar, and even some geography. The list is endless and continues to grow, but above all are all the great homebrewers I have had the pleasure to meet. Each with their own recipes, brew stories, theories, charm and character. These people have become friends and we continue to unite monthly under the name "Brewers United for Real Pilsner (BURP) to share each others bliss and brew. Also at these mentioned gatherings other homemade items are enjoyed. Wines,cordials, polish sausage, venison chili, breads and pastries are a few to mention. We also meet on special occasions such as our Oktoberfest and Spring Fling.

We at Heimstatte invite you to join in this exciting hobby, and if you already are we hope we can be of some service to you.

Those of you who may be within our area, we will be opening our B.O.P. (Brew on Premises) April 1, 1999.

Write, phone, or email for more information or comments.

Cheers
