The Year That Was- 2002

The January tournament marked our season opener this year,

And Carolyn and Richard’s birthday gave us a reason to cheer.

Pee Wee was drunk and passed out in the lawn,

But Smokin’ Joe kept the hunters from waking at dawn.

With Squeaks & Christi near the bong to keep warm,

Gus and Pig Pen showed perfection in their form.

Bangs was sick and unable to pitch on that night,

Why didn’t she come, Doc could’ve made her all right

Pitchin in Drippin featured washers & fun,

Especially when Big Nasty fired a gun.

Denise and Charles gave us the perfect place for a dual,

And where else could we see Goose chasing a bull?

When the tourney was finished and over that night,

Jonesy and Prez put up the most impressive fight.

Goose was the cook and made sure everyone was fed,

Mark read Greg the Hungry Caterpillar as he lay in bed.

March was now upon us and Anna’s birthday was here,

Becks and Trigger were present, probably for the beer.

Ringer and Kahuna finally won an event,

Actually playing well during the 5^th week of lent

Memorial Day was different as we changed the rules,

And Pig Pen and Gus made us all look like fools

Joanna & Kristine even showed up in town,

While Rita and Sara were burning one down.

For more than one reason, the summer was grand,

We met at Lake Whitney just as we’d planned.

And who could forget that historic summer day,

When Goose set a record for ringers in one play.

Best Fest 02’was Live With Cat Carruth,

Beretta threw 4 in a row, and that’s the truth

Mary and Anthony won the Friday games,

But Saturday’s winners were a couple of no-names.

Pee Wee & Happy made us all very proud,

They finished the highest in the midst of the crowd.

Deer season is almost gone, and our season is over,

Smokin Joe and Goose won- and they weren’t even sober.

The next generation is growing up fast,

In just a few years, we will be seeing a new cast.

So out with the old, and in with the new,
