“I wonder what this is…..”Justin said aloud to himself as he studied the small, brown package with his name on it. He took it upstairs to his hotel room and swiftly tore open the package. He stared at the unmarked videotape, intrigued. There wasn’t even a note attached! His curiosity piqued, he pushed the videotape into the VCR. He was totally unprepared, though, for what greeted him.
“Hi, Justin,” Chasity said, her beautiful blue eyes looking straight into the camera. She looked nearly the same - except for the fact that all the life had gone out of her usually sparkling eyes. Justin felt tears come to his eyes as he looked at her. “I bet you’re wondering what the heck I’m doing,” she continued, a slight smile on her lips. “Well, I never got to tell you good-bye so I thought I’d send you a little present. Remember how you told me that you liked for girls to sing to you? Well, that’s my present to you - I’m gonna sing you a song…..This is for you, Justin,” she said softly as she took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
I won’t see your smile / And I won’t hear you laugh anymore / Every night / I won’t see you walk through that door /
'Cause time wasn’t on your side / It isn’t right / I can’t say I love you / It’s too late to tell you / But I really need you to know /
No, I’ll never forget you / I’ll never let you out of my heart / You will always be here with me / I’ll hold onto the memories, baby /
Baby, can you hear me / Wherever you may be tonight / Are you near me / I need you to be by my side /
‘Cause I never said Goodbye / It isn’t right / I should have said I love you / Why didn’t I just tell you / God knows I need you to know /
No, I’ll never forget you / I’ll never let you out of my heart / You will always be here with me / I’ll hold onto the memories, baby /
Somewhere I know you’ll be with me / Someday in another time / But right now you’re gone / You just vanished away / But I’ll never leave you behind /
No, I’ll never forget you / I’ll never let you out of my heart / You will always be here with me / I’ll hold onto the memories, baby
“Justin…”Chasity said softly when she had finished the song, the salty tears rolling down her cheeks. “I’m so sorry for all the pain I’ve caused you. I hope you’ll forgive me someday……I - I love you……”she whispered right before the screen went black.
Justin stared at the blank screen in awe. Chasity had finally done it - she’d finally told him that she loved him. A slow smile spread on his lips as he picked up the phone and dialed JC’s room. He had something very important to tell him……….
Chasity stopped short when she finally reached her apartment. Right in front of her door was a medium sized, gift-wrapped box. She bent down to study it better and heard a muffled sound come from within it. What on Earth??? she thought to herself, her brows furrowed in confusion. She carefully opened the gift and her eyes widened when she saw what was inside.
“Meow,” cried a little silver and gray tabby kitten, happy to finally see a person. Chasity lifted the kitten in her arms and looked around. Could it be? Was he here? She slung open her apartment door and rushed inside, her eyes searching for someone very special. And then she spotted him.
“Hey, Chas,” he said, coming out of the shadows. “Someone told me, a long time ago, how much you wanted a kitten. I can’t remember who told me, though,” he teased, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
“Justin!” Chasity exclaimed excitedly. She gently put the kitten down and ran into his open arms. “I can’t believe you’re actually here!” she cried, happy tears springing to her eyes. They clung to each other passionately, overjoyed to finally be in each other’s arms.
“Of course I’m here,” Justin whispered against Chasity’s hair. “Remember what I told you before?”
“Yeah,” Chasity replied softly, a sweet smile on her lips. “You told me that we’d be together forever.”
“Together Forever,” Justin repeated, a content smile on his face. He slowly dipped his head down and kissed Chasity; A long, passionate kiss that took her breath away. They may have taken the long way, but it was worth it. They were finally together.
