Ed and Leanne's Page

Hello and welcome to our page amongst many. We're only getting going now, but trust we will add more pages as we go. This may be a dull site as things go (for now!) and will liven up as soon as we get the hang of things. Both Leanne and Ed contribute, though Ed more, so if the pronouns get confused, don't panic!

OUR HISTORY

A brief history: We are a young couple living in sin, have been together 5 years now. We live in George, a small town in the middle of the south coast of Africa (right on the bottom tip). I am a jeweller and Leanne is a hotellier. We live in a big old house and have a bull-terrier named Ziggy. Our other interest, apart from work and hound, is a yacht named 'Nini', our black hole for money and time, but also our intended future home. That's right- we're going round the world. Not now though, only in about 18 months. Pages are devoted to Nini and our intended cruise (go to Nini- pictures added 19.08.97). We're into peaceful co-existence, and against cruelty to animals (canned lions, bear baiting), and I suppose feel the need 'to get back to our roots' and live life more simply.

This is our Life!!!

Where we live:

I found this quite nice map- we live in George (X marks the spot) in the heart of the Garden Route (will add some pics soon). George is the "hub" (deliberately placed in inverted commas) of the Southern Cape, being the business centre and having the airport. Mossel Bay is where Nini lives. It is slightly more rustic than George, and since it is on the sea with a harbour, has a bit of a overgrown fishing village sort of feel. Although Bartholamew (however you spell it) Dias stopped at Mossel Bay in 1492 or something, and a tree (today known as the 'post office tree') was used as a post office by passing ships for hundreds of years, actual settlement only took place a bit over 200 years ago, with George being proclaimed in 1811. Not much of a history, I suppose, but hey, its all there is.

That's enough history (I feel like a teacher). Back to now. Like I said before, I make jewellery. My mother and I share a jewellery shop. My mother handles the cheque book and the retail shop, and I run the workshop. Pretty cool. I will put a jewellery link in soon.

I intend to continue with this learning about jewellery manufacture on my travels. Jewellery is made in so many ways around the world and I want to work and learn as I go. I think I do want to, after my travels, open up a little shop in a hip place making cool jewellery for cool people for cool money. What better advertisement than "studied the world".

I hope to entice Leanne into telling a bit about her job here, but that will have to be for another time. She's in Krugersdorp (Johannesburg area-look on map, dummy) for her brother Ryan's 21st birthday. Rah rah!!
