COMPONENTS:
- Network Server- server thats on a network
- Host Computer- is one that provides a particlar service to a user
- FTP- a standard for moving files from one computer to another
- Telnet- program that is part of the TCP/IP protocol, Its purpose is to allow a user to logon to a computer from a remote location
- Router- acommunication device which routes data between networks
- Gateway- device that connects different networks togehter
- Ethernet- a lan that has a provision to transmit data at a rate of 10 mb per/sec
- Token Ring Network- type of lan with nodes wired to a ring
- Hub- used for any device to which serveral others are attached providing a common point of connection
- Fiber Optics- a techonolgy by which data is transmited using light through glass fibre cable
- ISDN- a fast digital phone line
- Fire Wall- a combination of specialised hardware & software designed to keep unauthorised users to login
- ATM- a networking standard which is predicated by many experts to be the network protocol of the furture
- TCP/IP- a standard set of protocol's that govern the basic workings of the internet
- Lan- a group of PC's
- Wan- linked networks of Lan's
