Luther Creek was born on January 28, 1972. This amazing actor created the role of Mark Cohen in the first national touring cast, the Angel Cast, of RENT. He originally auditioned for the role of Roger Davis. The preview show was on November 5, 1996 in Boston, his first live show as Mark Cohen.
The show opened on November 18, 1996.
Luther's last show as Mark and with the Angel Cast was on October 18, 1997 in Washington, DC at the National Theater. He came to Toronto the next day for rehersals.
Luther started playing the role of Roger Davis in Toronto, Ontario in Canada at the Royal Alexandra Theater on November 25, 1997. Which was when the previews started. As you may notice...he cut his hair for the part.
His last show was in Toronto at the Royal Alexandra Theater on May 17, 1998.
Around mid-July of 1998, Luther Creek was called in to play Roger Davis, this time at the Nederlander Theater in New York City. This was because the Roger at the time, Norbert Leo Butz, had to undergo surgery and would be out for a couple months. So from mid-July to September 5, 1998 he played Roger Davis with the NY cast. And in my opinion, did a fabulous job!
I saw him perform, FINALLY, on August 8. It was me, my mom, my sister Andi and our friend Aubrey. The last time she saw the show it was with the entire OBC! Well we were going to go to Lilith Fair in Ohio (Idina!) but all the tickets were sold out by the time we called. I will soon have a review of the show that day, it was my first time doing the lotto and I won!! Actually it was my first actual Broadway show too! Exciting eh?!?!
Before doing Rent and god and Footloose, Luther Creek was over seas performing as Claude in Hair, the 25th anniversary tour and in Tommy: the musical as a pinball lad (you can see a pic of him in the picture gallery).
I'm not sure of the exact date he started, but Luther Creek joined the band god with Dan Robbins and Mugwump Jism in their band for a few months as Grandpa Jack! But he is no longer with them.
For a few months Luther Creek also joined the National Touring company of Footloose as Willard (YES! he played Willard! I heard a sound clip and he sounded great!) Someone please e-mail me with the exact dates if you can!
Latest 2003 Luther news, currently performing in Urinetown on Broadway!! Yupp...that's about it. If anyone has more news and/or pictures please e-mail me at email@example.com.
