EATING LOW & FAT FREE

Low fat & fat free eating is fun and delicious! The first thing to do is read labels of everything you buy. Fortunately this is a great time to find fat free foods with a weight watching America. You`ll be amazed at what is low fat & what isn`t! How fat is lurcking in those foods you never thought should have fat :)

The first thing I did is replace everything I knew that contained fat with fat free items.
I now use the following:

Fat Free Mayonaise
Fat Free Miracle Whip
I Can`t Believe It`s Not Butter Fat Free Spray
Molly Mc Butter
Fat Free Cooking Spray
Skim Milk
Fat Free Cheeses
Fat Free Bacon Bits
Fat Free Dressings
Egg Beaters
Fat Free Bread
Fat Free Frozen Yogurt
Fat Free Ice Cream
Fat Free Beans
Fat Free Cream Cheese
Fat Free Rice Cakes
Fat Free Cool Whip
Fat Free Hershey`s Chocolate Syrup

There are many low fat items too, I stick to anything 2% and lower like:

Low Fat Graham Crackers
Low Fat Potatoe Chips
Low Fat Torilla Chips
Low Fat Meats & Lunch Meats
Low Fat Pop Corn
Low Fat Hard Candy
Low Fat Breakfast Cereals
Low Fat Rice Cakes

You really need to read the labels though, not all low fat items are 2% or less fat, like low fat Peanut Butter can still have 17% fat, way too high. Also some ground Turkey is very high in fat, check for fat grams before purchasing. Some products advertised "Low Fat" are actually higher fat than regular items, so label reading is a must. Each tablespoon of fat contains about 100 calories, so the less fat grams, the less calories you are consuming.

I happen to love to eat and I love desserts :) There are many favorite recipes you can still use just by substituting ingredients with fat free items. Here`s a few of my favorites:

LOW FAT LASAGNA
Use Low Fat Ground Turkey instead of beef & fry with fat free cooking spray. Use Fat Free Mozzarella Cheese Use Fat Free drained small Curd cottage cheese instead of Ricotta. You can use a mixer to break up curds to resemble ricotta. Or use fat free Tofu instead of ricotta. Use fat free spaghetti sauce. Lasagna noodles are naturally fat free! Follow regular recipe for assembly & baking

FAT FREE QUICHE LORRAINE
Egg Beaters to equal 6 eggs, 2 slices each Fat free Cheddar, Swiss and American cheese cut in chunks, 1/4 cup chopped onion, 1/2 cup chopped spinach, 1 tbls. worchester sause, 1/4 cup fat free bacon bits, 1/2 cup fat free or low fat, bisquick or pancake mix. Salt & Pepper to taste. Mix all ingredients, our into pam sprayed pie plate or 9 in cake pan & Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min to one hr. Done when tooth pick comes out clean from middle of quiche. Serve with romaine lettce, tomatoes, shredded carrots, fat free croutons & bacon bits salad with sweet & sour fat free dressing.

FAT FREE CRAB CAKES
1 pkg. Imitation no fat Crab Meat
1 slice fat free Bread pulled in pieces
1 teas. skim milk over bread
Egg Beater to equal 1 egg
1 teas. Old Bay Seasoning
2 tbls. Fat Free Mayonaise
Salt & Pepper
Shape into cakes, if it isn`t holding together you may need more bread broken up. Broil each side or fry in pam sprayed fry pan untl golden browm. Serve with cole slaw made with fat free dressing & baked low fat frozen french fries. Yummmmm

FAT FREE SWEET & SOUR DRESSING
1 cup Red Wine Vinegar
3/4 cup Water
1/2 to 3/4 cup Sugar depending on sweetness desired
1 teas. dry Italian dressing (mix your own package type found in stores)
Shake well, pour over salad. Delicious!

LOW FAT SOUPS
Fat free chicken stock or boullion
Fat free or low fat turkey or chicken browned in pan with fat free spray
salt, pepper to taste, onions, stewed tomatoes, beans, carrots, corn, peas, no fat noodles or pasta. Simmer until tender & flavorful. Try adding small amount of spinach chopped or a sprinkle of ground cloves for an enhanced flavor. Serve with warm fat free bread or rolls sprinkled with Molly Mc Butter & garlic salt. If warming whole loaf of french bread, use egg white to brush on top of loaf & sprinkle with garlic salt & Molly Mc Butter or fat free Butter Spray, bake until warm.

FAT FREE HONEY BUTTER
mix honey with fat free butter spray or Molly Mc Butter. Add cinnimon if desired. Use on toast or warm bread.

FAT FREE PIZZA
Make your own dough using no oil. Spray pizza pan with Pam. Use ground turkey or other fat free meat browned & seasoned with Italian seasoning. Top with mushrooms, chopped onion, peppers, tomatoes, fat free bacon bits and fat free mozzarella cheese. Use fat free spaghetti sauce. Bake until done.

FAT FREE BOSTON CREAM DESSERT
Put one slice fat free Custard Angelfood cake in bowl, pour over cake- vanilla cooked pudding made with skim milk, put another slice of angelfood cake pour more pudding over. Drizzel Hershey`s Chocolate syrup over pudding & top with fat free Cool Whip.

FAT FREE JELLO CAKE
Pull apart fat free Angelfood cake and put in cake pan. Pour hot jello over cake & mix lightly. You can add fruit to jello too. Put in fridge to set. Top with fat free Cool Whip. Great dessert!

LOW FAT BROWNIES
Use store bought brownie mix that has low fat in mix of 2% or less fat. Use Egg Beaters instead of eggs. Use applesause instead of oil. Bake in Pam sprayed baking dish according to directions. Instead of frosted brownies, drizzel chocolate syrup on top. Variations, use fat free cream cheese & drop spoonfuls over batter before baking.

LOW FAT ICE CREAM SANDWICHES
Use recipe for bownies above but drop spoonfuls of batter on Pan sprayed cookie sheet. Bake until brownie cookie cakes are done, approx 15 min. Cool. Use two brownie cookies, spread fat free ice cream between 2 cooled brownie cookies and freeze. Wrap or put in container when frozen. Delicious!

LOW FAT ICE CREAM CAKE
Crush low fat graham crakers, or low fat chocolate cookies, spread in bottom of cake pan. drizzel with fat free chocolate syrup. Spread softened fat free ice cream over graham crackers. Freeze. Spread softened fat free cool whip over ice cream. Drizzel with chocolate if desired.

LOW FAT CREAM CHEESE FRUIT PIE
Low fat graham cracker pie crust, mix hot jello (any flavor) made with only 1 cup hot water with 8 ounces fat free cream cheese. Use wire wisk or mixer to mix. Pour into graham cracker crust. Refrigerater until firm, top with fruit if desired & top with fat free cool whip
