OBJECTIVES:

The science department wrote student objectives, based on the State syllabus, for all of the topics we will cover in Earth Science this year. The objectives state what we expect student's to know by the end of the topic. All of the teachers in the department teach to the same objectives. Of couse it is up to the individual teacher to determine what is the best way to lead their students through the material. Students are given a copy of the objectives at the beginning of every topic.

The information needed to understand the concepts on the objective sheets is presented in videos, lectures, textbook assignments, and when ever possible in labs. During a topic I spend class time filling in needed information on the sheets. At the end of a topic I give students an opportunity to ask any question they wish about the information they should have recorded on their objective sheets. On a topic test there is one question for each objective.

From this site you can access all of the objective sheets we will use this year. There are two formats for each topic. One link for a topic will produce a blank objective sheet that is similar to the sheets students receive at the beginning of a topic. The second link for a topic has an objective sheet with the information filled in. The information on these sheets is not meant to be exhaustive. In class I, and all of the teachers in the department, cover the objectives in more detail than is shown on these sites.
