Count Alain Le Roux, came to England with William the Conqueror.

William made out a contract in which he granted the lands that had
formerly belonged to Earl Edwin, to Alain, making him the Earl of
Richmond. Alain was, in fact a second cousin to William, although
William referred to him as his nephew. Alain appears many times in the
Domesday Book (where the waters are muddied by the fact that there were
actually three Count Alans around - Alain Le Roux, his brother Alain
Niger and Alain Fergant, who became son-in-law to William).

Count Alanis the third biggest landholder in the Domesday Book.
Count Alain LeRoux, in fact, died in 1089 he died unmarried.
His son came across in his train and Alain commanded the Rear-Guard at Hastings.

If you use a search engine such as http://www.dogpile.com to locate
information, you will find a vastly different story to what you have
presented. Alain Le Roux was Count of Penthievre and the son of the Duke
of Brittany.
