The Urza's Block Page

The Urza's Block is my No. 1 favorite Cycle! It has tons of bombs including the likes of Masticore, Yawgmoth's Bargain, Morphling, and Deranged Hermit. The block is legal in: Type 1, Type 1.5, Extended and Urza's Block Constructed.

Also, check out this cool pic I found. It seems to be an alternate art display box of Saga boosters! Enjoy!

Next, here's a poem that I wrote when the Urza's Block was about to rotate out of type two:
This was a story about two guys,
Deep inside their family lives.
Yes, that's right, these two were bros,
Though in the end, they were great foes.
Urza and Mishra in the brothers' war,
The Artifact Cycle, highlited by the Masticore.
It added 'echo' to our Magic jargon,
And contained many powerhouses like Yawgomth's Bargain.

Suddenly, some commons came together,
They worked all as one, like birds on a feather.
This Stompy deck won many a game,
And will remain in Magic's Hall of Fame.
Don't forget the Rector-Bargain combo,
It's totally dead, kinda like Number Five Mambo.
Squirrel Prison, though not as often, was played,
Is now replaced by things that Fade.
Rebels and Waters, though, make the cut,
But they're missing the Mothers and Anthems to be quite blunt.
How about the newer Trinity deck,
No more Plow Unders or Squirrels, oh well, what the heck!

Then there's Morphling, a Clone, as he pretended,
He'll live forever in the format called Extended.
And Treachery, a free Control Magic,
It's loss to blue will be rather tragic.
Gaea's Cradle and Tolarian Academy were definitely fun,
There's nothing more broken than the blue one.
Powder Keg and Yawgmoth's Will say farewell too,
Forced March tries to replace them, but can't mange to.

Now there's the set, it's called Invasion,
Hopefully, the cards'll be better than Recantation.
Gold is back, how much more can I say,
And new mini-double cards, that are better than Flay.
So, my dear dear Rancor is gone for ever,
But not in Type 1, oh how clever!

Now one last salute to these three great sets,
They'll never be beat, I'd place any bets.

Also, Urza's Legacy saw the beginning of non-promo foils. In all expansions since, you are able to find foil versions of all the cards. Here's a picture of a foil Legacy card:
