  • General Writing References

The Everything Creative Writing Book--More info to come!

  • Grammar References

Media Writer's Handbook, A Guide to Common Writing & Editing Problems by George T. Arnold--An excellent reference full of grammar and writing tips with examples to boot!  Though its main purpose was probably to assist those who write for the paper or something of the sort, it really is helpful to anyone with grammar needs.  I bought one for a class that required it but I'm not taking it back to the bookstore--it really is that good!

  • Punctuation References

Eats, Shoots & Leaves by Lynne Truss--A humorous book that tells of all the true uses of punctuation.  Great for those who need help with commas, apostrophes or even just need a general brushing-up.  Though it was marketed towards an English audience (that is, UK English) as long as you can remember that a full stop is the same as a period, you're good to go.  I've learned a lot from this one.
