I have just recently started to make my own backgrounds using TheGIMP It is an awesome product and i strongly suggest anyone that enjoys messing with images try it out. Also, IT IS ABSOLUTELY FREE and there are really no limits to what can be done. You can all check out the Desktop Backgrounds that i have created with the gimp at that link.
