News---

May 3, 2004-- I have to take a break for a few months.

I’m really sorry that I have to say this, but I feel that I should say it now, rather than let the team fade into obscurity becasue everyone is waiting for me come back.

Over the past few months, I’ve really lost a sense of dedication to this project. Schoolwork has been piling up, I have not had time to do what I wanted to with this site. I had hoped to keep the newsletter going, but I had no time to do it. I had hoped to keep weekly, if not more frequent updates on the team site, didn’t have time for that. I had hoped to put what I’m learning in Perl and Java to work in creating team stats. Really don’t have time for that.

So, I’m stepping down as team leader at least until the end of summer.  I’ve lost the drive to try and push for the team, which is what it really needs. After doing this for over a year, news needs more than one person doing it.  I’m going to try and contact a few of the people who used to do UD/Grid, and see if they will cover some of it.

It really feels like I’m abandoning a lot of people, but I have to do this.  I have under 40 days of school left, and then finals.  I don’t have time to work on the team, and feel that someone else, in fact a few people should run it as a team.

I’m not going to dissapear from the forums completely, but I will be less active. If there are any important questions, my e-mail is steven@scripko.org , and I’m happy to answer questions.

I’m also going to put the complete team siteup for someone/people to download if they want to try and work with it.  There will be a site.zip, which will have everything in HTML format, as well as a teamcrabcake.nod, which is the site in NetObjects Fusion.

I would like to thank everyone for supporting the team in the past, present, and I hope everyone continues to support the site in the future.

The last thing I’m going to do is try and work with MarcC and Xyzzy and see if I can get this into the Food Court, if that does not happen within a reasonable timeframe, I’ll open up FTP access to site to let people make news updates.

April 24, 2004-- Well, only 10 days, but a lot has happened:

First, ECC2 has ended, with our sister team, Team Vodka Martini, ended with 1st place. Glenon, a member of Team Vodka Martini, and a active member of the forum has found one of the Winning DP’s that ended the project.

Because of this, we have gained quite a few members since I last posted news, so I’d like to give a big welcome to them:

CRM114

Evil Canadian

tak_785813

everness7

uberlo

jmckittr

2GC-DCuser

Lightforce3

p0ppe

kethdredd

mgruber

sparkyewu

Also, we have broken the 900,000 points a week barrier a few times, and currently have 897,117 points for the week. A few (and I mean 2 or 3) machines can put us into 900+k a week territory.

Over the next few months (because of constant pestering), I will be moving the site into the Food Court setup. This will make it easier for others to post news when I am gone (it will be for several weeks over the summer), as well as “keep a better sense of unity.” It also means the real domain name will be used, and I don’t have to pay for it. :)

Expect to see some links starting to go toward the FoodCourt over the coming weeks, and see more news, more Crab Cakes, and most importantly, MORE BEER!

April 14, 2004-- Err... You mean I should update the news?

Well, a good deal has happened since the last time I bothered to update this page.  First we have gained a number of new members:

moose_and_squirrel

cporterfield

noogen

MechWarrior(TDOW)

BobDole_Ars

Jonathon Markevich

Welcome to the team all of you, and you will find your key to the clubhouse under the return slip for your first work unit( if you can’t find it, don’t worry, I’ll send another one :) )

On another note, we did beat my goal of 275 CPU days in one day.

The next goal:

Break 150,000points in one day!  I have seen several day where we have broken 140,000, so all you guys need is a concerted 10,00 points a day, about 15 machines (which is about what you needed more for the last one as well).

We currently have 998 members. Keep watching the total member counts, and when it hits 1000 members, check the forums, and start a thread on it, unless there is one, at which point post to it.  We will see how many people actually read and check the stats.

Until next time, you will find me in the forum,

March 22, 2004-- Yes I didn’t publish the newsletter again.

Ok, so I didn’t have time to make one up for this week. I will probably be doing more every other week updates, because of school work load, and to prepare you for the summer, where I will only be home about once every other week.

I have added Issue 4 of the Newsletter to the site, and hope to put out Issue 5 on Friday or Saturday (depending on how much work I have to do, and if I can get into the library at school).

That being said, not much has been happening lately. No new members, the overtake time has not moved much, and it looks like there will be a few threats in our future. I’ll say more in the next few weeks, as I get more data on the subject.

Oh yeah, and watch the Forums on April 9th around 3-4 PM EST.  There will be a new thread about something important.  People who have been with the team or the forums for a good year will know what is happening.

March 12, 2004-- End of the Smallpox project, and yes I did forget to publish the newsletter....

First off, I’d like to show the post that celebrating the end of work on our end for the smallpox project:

Sometime today you will see smallpox start to run out of work. Not wanting to steel anyone's tunder I won't say "DONE." Instead I will say no additional work is scheduled to be placed in the system.

Anyways, we will start the process to switch those who are set to smallpox only over to cancer in the next few days. Until then if you are set to smallpox only you will get "unable to connect backing off" messages. To fix this change your profiles from only run smallpox to run all projects or run cancer only.

Thanks for all the hard work!

Second, I’d like to thank all of the members of Team Crab Cake who have supported the project in the past, and I’d really like to thank all of the members of Team Crab Cake who are currently supporting the team.

You can get your celebration on at our party thread

Third, we are only 6,816,387 points away from 14th place!  We are gaining at over 200,000 points a week! Keep up the good work!

Until next time (and I will remember to put out the newsletter),

March 6, 2004-- Welcome to MDaleo!

Welcome to the team! If you have any questions, follow the E-Mail the webmaster link at the bottom of the page.

Remember that you will get your key to the clubhouse after you submit your first workunit.

I’m finishing up the next edition of the newsletter (and remembering to change the title to say Issue 4 :) )

Cheers,

March 3, 2004-- Welcome to rECoIl-Burrows!!

I’d like to welcome you to the team. Now as to your threat of overtaking me, I will honorably give up my rank to you if it benefits the team.

The same goes to anyone else, I will give my lowering rank to better the team.

No remember Burrows, the key to the clubhouse is under the return slip for the first work unit!

Remember to recruit your friends and family!

March 1, 2004-- New user install guide created!

I have created the new user install guide after a little prompting (thanks Burrows!) for all to use and enjoy!  I hope it helps to ease the installation and configuation of the client!

I also have made us a new perpetual thread! Check it out!

Good luck to everyone! Remember I now have the domain, so you should be accessing teamcrabcake.scripko.org, not anything else! Update your bookmarks now!
