Cell Death

Recent research in the field of apoptosis has lead to the discovery of Apoptosis
Inducing Factors. These factors have been shown to be able to be down
regulated and the effect is a reduced amount of cell death after neural ischemia,
as seen in the recent research article
Apoptosis-Inducing Factor Triggered by
Poly(ADP-Ribose)Polymerase and Bid Mediates Neuronal Cell Death after
Oxygen–Glucose Deprivation and Focal Cerebral Ischemia
by Carsten
Culmsee, Changlian Zhu, Stefan Landshamer, Barbara Becattini, Ernst Wagner,
Maurizio Pellechia, Klas Blomgren, and Nikolaus Plesnila for the Journal of
Neuroscience.
My project is for the course BIOL 475, Neurobiology, Dr. Grant Mastick,
Biology Department, University of Nevada, Reno.
