As the dark gray smoke settled over the battlefield, tall spires of black smoke rose over the hills of Faydwar. The smell of blood and death loomed in the air, as the dead released their souls. Staggering from the pillars of black smoke, two figures emerged. One dressed in silver armor, covered in blood, the other dressed in long bluish robes, torn from shoulder to feet.

As they staggered, holding each other up, they culled the field for survivors, of the elven race, human race and even the orcian race. Laruc Edderath and Nyderissi Thayrith, the leaders of their respected races, realized, they were all that were left on the battlefield. Though badly wounded, Laruc charged a small figure, making its way onto the battlefield. A small gnome, named Fragin Perodoc, let out a shrill scream, as Lurac thrust his sword at the little one.

Noticing that the gnome was covered in blood, like himself and the elven wizard, Lurac pulled back. Sitting around the evening fire, Fragin explained that he was the leader of the gnome of the city Ak-Anon. And that their city was raided by an army of kobolds. Most of the gnomes were killed, but about half of the population escaped. Fragin continued to explain that he was out searching for help.

Lurac and Nyderissi explained what had happened, and how they were the only survivors. Soon, they all settled in for the night, as Lurac stood first watch. As Nyderissi’s watch came to an end, she had an idea. As the two men woke, and they packed camp, she took them aside, and told them what she had thought of.

"This was a battle between the elven race, human race and the orcian race. But as it seems, all of evil is abound to cause destruction. As we see here, with our little friend. I put forward a pact. A pact of honor and dignity. One of loyalty to each other, and our races, and unity." Nyderissi exclaimed.

Thus began the search for the long tradition of honor. Something that has been forgotten over the ages.
