Sierra began skating at age 7 at SkateQuest in Dale City, VA where she went from Star level to FS 1. She began competing at the Gamma level when she started with her Coach, five time Uzbekistan National Champion and 2002 Olympic competitor, Roman Skornyakov. She was choreographed by his wife, Tatiyana Malinina, also an Olympic competitor.
Sierra moved to Florida in 2002 and began working with current coach Petr Barna. (She took group lessons for FS 1 & 2 and Intensive group lessons.) She now also takes homeschool lessons with Diana Deka focusing on maneuvers from FS 4 and 5 and private stroking lessons with Andrea Barnova. She helps out with lower level students occasionally at group lessons, and will soon be taking her test for FS4.
She has been in over 15 competitions, appeared in the newspaper twice, and was responsible for winning the third place team trophy for TBSA at Sunrise, FL where she was the only skater from her rink. She also, along with just two other TBSA skaters, helped win the third place team trophy at Kendall, FL.
In addition she has skated in 5 exhibitions and 2 Holiday shows, both in VA and FL. Her future plans are to go to USFSA in 2004 with an eye on the Olympics. She would also like to stay in ISI and ultimately get a Master of Sports degree and be a skating coach. She has been a member of ISI for over 2 years and is also a member of the Oldsmar Shining Stars Skating Club.
