Trisha Yearwood Bio

Chic-looking Trisha Yearwood , who zoomed to stardom in 1991 with SHE'S IN LOVE WITH THE BOY , is a country girl born on September 19 , 1964 , in Monticello , Georgia. The younger of two daughters of a banker father and school teacher mother , she grew up on a farm in the small central Georgia community , about an hour's drive from Atlanta , Athens and Macon. The music of LINDA RONSTADT , EMMYLOU HARRIS and the EAGLES were major influences during her teenage years as she developed her own vocal style , making the rounds of area talent contests.

In 1985 , after a stint at the University of Georgia , Trisha moved to Nashville to attend Belmont College , where she completed a music business course. Her first introduction to the music business was when she landed a job in the publicity department at MTM Records. Then came demo work for publishers. At this time she met a struggling GARTH BRROKS , who promised they'd work together if he ever made it big. True to his word , when Garth was recording his first album , Trisha was called in to provide back-up vocals , and later Garth sang on her recordings , and also provided her with some songs.

With the help of Garth Fundis , a Nashville producer who had worked with Don Williams and Keith Whitely , Trisha played a showcase for Nashville's record industry and was signed to MCA Records in late 1990. The first single , SHE'S IN LOVE WITH THE BOY , accompanied by a stunning video , raced to No.1 on the charts in 1991 , followed by Top 10 entries with LIKE WE NEVER HAD A BROKEN HEART (1991) , THAT'S WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU , THE WOMAN BEFORE ME and WRONG SIDE OF MEMPHIS (1992).
