Introduction to Weather
Lesson One- Literacy and Science
Opening circle:
Book about weather
“Weather all around” By: Tillie Pine
Discussion:
Have children identify describers of weather and seasons.
Vocabulary:
Sunny Hot
Rainy Cold
Snowy Warm
Cloudy Chilly
Windy
Spring
Fall
Winter
Summer
What is the weather like today? How does it feel outside? How would we describe the weather? What season is it? How would we illustrate the weather?
Show the children the weather Chart.

Show them the weather pieces and have them explain what type of weather each
would represent.
Assign a weather person for that week and explain to the children that every
week a new weather person will be placing the correct weather shape on the correct
day. At the end of the month the whole class will be counting the number of
cloudy, sunny, rainy, snowy days and making a graph to show comparison in weather
of that month. (Math and Science)
Lesson two-
Reading “Weather words and what they mean”
Discussing the describer words of weather and defining them. Have the students
write the words out on paper while following teachers instruction.
