Ecozones are regions that are based on its ecological characteristics. Ecozones help us understand the geography in Canada because they show the interconnections between natural and human systems. They are based on multiple characteristics. These characteristics are landform, climate characteristics, soils, vegetation, wildlife and patterns of human regions. In Canada, there are sixteen ecozones. which are multi-faceted. This website will focus on one, the Prairie ecozone. It covers 520 000 square kilometres. Its border starts at the United States - Canada border and moves from the Rocky Mountains in Alberta eastward to Manitoba.
