About Us
The Desk Buddy Business Venture was created by Joel Eustace, Jonathan Moore, and David Phillips in requirement for Enterprise 3205. We are Grade 12 students from Gonzaga High School in St. John's, Newfoundland. This is our first (and likely only) attempt at running a small business, so therefore we have no previous business background. We are also the only people involved in the business, so we all share equal responsibilities - manufacturing the product, advertising the product, and organizing and collecting profits.
About the Product
Desk Buddies are made using various fabric types, thread, and batting (stuffing). The pillows are machine and hand-sewn, and hand-stuffed by the three of us. The manufacturing process is relatively simple: We cut out the fabric using a template (also made by ourselves), sew the fabric together, stuff the pillow with batting, and then hand-sew the pillow closed. As you can see, there isn't a whole lot of maintenance or heavy machinery needed when making Desk Buddies, so we are able to make them in the comfort of our own homes (i.e. Jon's dining room). We purchased our fabric from Fabricville (with financial help from an in-store connection), and Wal-Mart. The same applies for the stuffing as well.
