Westport Christian School began
September 2000. It is in its second year
of operation. It was started by Peggy Rothman-Freeman (Miss Peggy),
a member of Solomon's Porch. Her vision fit with the goals of the
church and Pastor Troy Covey has provided space, support, and help
from staff members. We offer quality
education for grades one through twelve.
Our mission statement is as follows:
"Westport Christian School will
provide multicultural, inner city students
with an unequaled quality of education that recognizes ethnic backgrounds
and diverse learning styles. We believe that children should
be educated in a manner which will encourage them to pursue higher
educational and vocational goals with the aim of using their talents
to benefit those in their community who are less fortunate than
themselves." The
goal of Westport Christian School is to ensure that all students
master the fundamental concepts of math
and language. By building upon these
basic tools students will be able to study these subjects at advanced
levels. We also support the arts and offer a variety of subjects
that will developed students' natural talents.
No student will be turned away
because of lack of finances. We know that
God wants all children to prosper and be who He created them to
be. At Wesport Christian School we are
honored to help assist with the goal
that God has for His people. "For I know the plans that I have
for you, declares the Lord, plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans
to give you hope and a future...."Jeremiah 29:11
